Ceteareth O-25 Main Fuctions:

  

Basic physical and chemical parameters 

Chemical name: C16-18 Cetearyl Alcohol Polyoxyethylene Ether (AEO-25, also known as X-102, Leveling Agent O) 

CAS:68439-49-6 / 9002-92-0 

Type: Non ionic surfactant 

1. Appearance: A white solid in the form of flakes at room temperature, with a melting point of 41-43 ℃, which melts into a viscous paste when heated 

2. HLB:16~17, Hydrophilicity higher than O-20, stronger water in oil emulsification ability 

3. pH: 5.0-7.0 (1% aqueous solution, near neutral) 

4. Cloud point: 91-96 ℃ (5% sodium chloride solution), higher than O-20 cloud point, better stability under high temperature conditions 

5. Moisture content ≤ 1.0%, easily soluble in hot water and ethanol, slow to dissolve in cold water; Hydroxyl value of 37-41mgKOH/g 

6. Stability: Acid resistant, alkali resistant, hard water resistant, inorganic salt resistant, heat-resistant, can be compounded with anions/cations, and can be used in small amounts with cationic surfactants

Compared to O-20, the addition number of EO is higher, and its water solubility, high-temperature stability, dispersibility, and even dyeing and slow dyeing performance are all superior to O-20 

  

Five core performance indicators 

1. Uniform dyeing and slow dyeing (core advantage) 

There are more hydrophilic groups, which have stronger adsorption capacity for dyes, and the slow dyeing effect is better than O-20. It effectively controls the dyeing rate of active, acidic, and direct dyes, eliminates high-temperature color spots and stage differences, and is less prone to precipitation during high-temperature dyeing. It is suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure roll dyeing and tube yarn dyeing. 

2. Emulsification performance 

High hydrophilic HLB, special oil in water emulsification, emulsification stability of mineral oil, paraffin, animal and vegetable fats, stearic acid is better than O-20, lotion is fine and does not layer, suitable for emulsification of high oil content system. 

3. Wetting and penetration 

Excellent reduction of surface tension, strong boiling and penetration of cotton, linen, and synthetic fabrics, accelerating the penetration of the refining solution into the fibers, removing cotton wax, pectin, and pulp.

4. Disperse and prevent agglomeration 

Extremely strong pigment and dye dispersion ability, breaking up dye aggregation particles, anti staining and anti color spots in printing, and anti floating color rebound in printing and dyeing soap washing. 

5. Clean and anti-static 

Strong degreasing and cleaning power, removing oil stains and floating colors; Efficient elimination of static electricity in polyester and nylon is a key component of high-end synthetic fiber spinning oil agents. 

Supplement: The foam is medium to high, with excellent calcium soap dispersion, resistant to hard water washing and not easy to inactivate.


Industry wide use+precise dosage addition 

  

1. Textile printing and dyeing (main focus) 

-Uniform dyeing with reactive/acidic dyes: dyeing bath 0.15-0.4g/L, high-temperature dyeing preferred (higher temperature resistance than O-20) 

-Reduction/direct dye leveling: 0.02-0.08g/L 

-Printing soap washing, color stripping, anti whitening agent: 4-8g/L, anti whitening effect better than O-20 

-Cotton and linen pre-treatment boiling: adding 0.25% to 0.7% of the training solution, removing impurities and wax 

-Chemical fiber spinning oil agent: oil phase ratio of 6% to 13%, lubrication+long-lasting anti-static 

  

2. Daily chemical cosmetics 

Oil in water cream, lotion, hair conditioner emulsifier, 2.5%~6% oil phase; High end laundry detergent and facial cleanser ingredients, low irritation, hard water resistance, and emulsion stability better than O-20. 

3. Industrial emulsification&rubber 

-Paraffin wax and mechanical lubricant emulsification: Oil weight of 3.5% to 7%, preferred for high oil content systems 

-Acrylic acid lotion, synthetic emulsion polymerization emulsification: monomer addition 1.8%~3.5% 

-Fiberglass drawing oil, rubber additives, coating emulsion raw materials 

4. Industrial cleaning&metal processing 

-Oil removal before electroplating and degreasing of metal stamping parts: working fluid ratio of 0.8% to 2.5%, used in combination with soda ash and phosphate; Soak and clean the equipment with heavy oil stains. 

5. Agrochemicals, papermaking, and others 

-Pesticide emulsion and foliar additive: 0.08% to 0.25% of the solution to enhance the adhesion and foliar penetration of the solution 

-Paper making ink remover, pulp wetting agent, blanket cleaning agent: pulp 0.15%~0.45% 

-Water based ink, pigment dispersing agent 


Precautions for use 

1. Dissolution: Dissolve in hot water at 60-70 ℃ and mix with water. Do not directly pour dry powder into cold water 

2. Temperature: Cloud point above 91 ℃, conventional high-temperature dyeing is not easy to precipitate, and it is recommended to compound low-temperature leveling agents for systems above 96 ℃ 

3. Compatibility: Avoid prolonged high temperature coexistence of concentrated and strong alkalis and oxidants, and maintain stability in conventional acid-base environments 

  

 Packaging, Storage, and Safety 

  

1. Packaging: 25kg lined plastic bag 

2. Storage: Store in a cool and dry warehouse, with an ambient temperature of less than 30 ℃, sealed and moisture-proof, with a shelf life of 24 months, away from strong oxidants and open flames 

3. Safety: Non hazardous materials; Rinse skin with clean water, rinse with plenty of water when in contact with eyes, non corrosive 


 Advantages and disadvantages (compared to O-20) 

✅ Advantages: higher cloud point, high temperature resistance, stronger uniformity/dispersion/emulsification, better electrolyte resistance, suitable for high-temperature dyeing tanks; 

❌ Disadvantages: The EO number is high, the cost is higher than O-20, the same amount of foam is slightly higher than O-20, and the lipophilic is weak, so it is not suitable for the oil in oil system.
